Yesterday we announced on activeCollab forum that there are a couple of new activeCollab modules approaching final stages of development and that we could use some help with testing. There are three new modules that we would like to have tested:

  1. Incoming Mail - This module connects to any number of POP3 or IMAP servers and imports emails from them. What this module enables you is to have people post new tickets or discussions directly from their email client. Also, when user replies to notification sent from activeCollab, it gets automatically fetched and submitted as a comment.
  2. Invoicing - Prepare and send invoices from activeCollab to your clients. This module also enables you to track all the payments made by your clients for any particular invoice. Multi-currency and multi tax rates support included.
  3. SVN integration - This module lets you connect existing SVN repositories to activeCollab projects. You can browse both code and repository history. Module sends email notifications on new commits to people who subscribe to repositories.

If you would like to grab a test copies of these modules when they get available, please send an email to hi@a51dev.com and tell us more about yourself, which modules are you interested in how you'll be using them.

This is just call for testers and should not be considered as any type of promise. We have not set any exact date when these modules will be included in official activeCollab package. If you are considering to purchase activeCollab, please ignore these modules until they are published and officially supported (if ever).

Thank you!

I have built a strong case to encourage my organization to move to an activeCollab based system. One key feature which has been brought up numerous times is the ability to send emails to the application and have them posted as tasks, tickets or just messages. If your incoming mail module provided this support with a way to identify and separate tasks, tickets or other options we would easily make the jump within a month. Can you keep me up to date on the incoming mail module progress?

Hi Neil,

Please send email to hi@a51dev.com as instructed in the post. That is the main place where we keep messages sent by people interested in helping out.

These sound like excellent additions, especially the incoming mail feature this was something I was hoping to see in the future and had no idea it would be available even in beta so soon. Also I look forward to seeing the invoicing setup, it would be great to have everything in one place if the feature set is strong. I’ll email as instructed.

Hello, Is this normal not to get any news from this even if a request was sent about two weeks ago ?
Regards, Antoine

Hi Antionicolas

I’m not sure if it’s normal but Ilija mentioned something in another post about this in the Official Announcements area … http://www.activecollab.com/forums/topic/3180/2/ that they have not replied yet about this they are just collecting info from people for when they are ready to test them I guess.

I hope that helps you out

We are just creating a small list of people interested in testing at this point. Email will be sent with further instructions to people who will be involved in test when these modules become available.

Thank you!

I’m really looking forward to these, especially the incoming email—I pretty much think of this improvement daily, as I copy and paste from my email into AC. Hope the testing starts soon, and I’m chosen for the small list :)

I’m up for testing these as well.

Would love to test these!

ActiveCollab may just be the best software—out of any product, not just Project Management—considering its ease of use, depth of features, low price and continuing development. I am seriously impressed.

With built-in SVN support, you’ve officially kicked BaseCamp’s ass. Great job!

Wow you guys just made my day cross that, my life.
It’s the perfect system now !
Definately want to test it for you guys.
Been up (2am here) so excited after trying this out.
I gotta find a way to leave basecamp.

Agreed – still very excited about this! What chance of an update…?
avatar Guest 2008-12-07 10:34
I was just thinking about how nice it would be to invoice people directly from aC. Can’t wait to see these in action!

does anybody knows the documentation or steps for creating NEW MODULE in ActiveCollab appliaction.
avatar Ilija Studen 2008-12-10 2:07
@pralhad:

There is no official module development documentation, but some key concepts are described in Anatomy of activeCollab Modules series so you can start there. activeCollab uses modules at its core so you have 10+ modules to study and if you stumble upon something you don’t understand, feel free to start a new discussion on Community Forums.
