Please follow this instructions when upgrading activeCollab to the latest release to keep the downtime of the system at minimum:

  1. Create /_activecollab folder and upload fresh content from /activecollab folder of installation package that you have downloaded from activeCollab.com website. Do the same thing for /public/assets (create /public/_assets and than upload content from the installation package).
  2. When done, simply rename the folders, so the new one is used instead of the old one.
  3. Upload other files listed in upgrade instructions.
  4. Go through the rest of the upgrade instructions - run the upgrade script, clean cache, etc. Please check upgrade instructions for release you are upgrading to for more details.

/activecollab and /public/assets folders are the biggest ones and it can take a while to upload them. That is why it's always recommended to upload them separately instead of overwriting existing files.

When you finish with the upgrade process, check if everything is working as expected. When you verify that everything is up and running, you can delete old versions of /activecollab and /public/assets folders, or keep them for backup, just in case.
