Is it possible to have private discussions with team members?

Yes, it is. Just set discussion visibility to "Only members of ****** company that are involved with ***** project can see this" when you create it (below the Message field).

Ah, if i wanted to quickly choose "Person A" to have a private discussion and the project had "Person B" and "Person C".
i.e. i cant "choose" which members of "company" to have that discussion with?

That scenario is not yet covered with the system. Have per object access permissions would make system really complex and much slower on most cases. We are still considering some kind of private messaging system, but there is no solid plan yet. We are open for suggestions :)

The only reason i am asking is that it is something i am making heavy use of in basecamp. Basically, when you create a message, you can choose which users to keep it private to, so when others log in they do not see anything.
So it isn't company specific, its per individual.

I was not aware that BC has support for that scenario. activeCollab does not have that feature yet. We'll see how this can be covered.
