I downloaded the update and i can still see tabs for each section that i have disabled.

Is that a final decision on this? i.e. users can see tabs despite not having permissions set? The content within each page has a "create" link which links through to a "HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden" page.

Surely the simplest solution would be to remove the tabs from navigation? (am i alone in this? )

Reason is that my clients will see the tabs and question what it does etc and why they cant add data, the reason i disabled them was from a usability perspective, i.e. to keep things simple.

Hi bohboh,

activeCollab 1.0.2 is a bugfix release with only minor improvements.

Ability to hide tabs from users may seam simple (just hide the tab), but it's actually not that easy. In order to be properly handled access permissions need to be introduced and we need to alter mechanisms that show data to users. For instance, if you decided to hide time tracking from your users information on timerecord creation cannot be displayed in activity log. Or, when you mark tickets as hidden any task related to a ticket cannot be displayed on assignments page if user does not have access to tickets section.

That is why ability to hide certain sections from users is considered major feature, not a minor one. This is pretty frequent request and I understand that current implementation can be improved so we'll work on it for future version. For now it is not possible.

Thank you

PS: Nothing is final ;)

Is there a better way of telling the user that they do not have permission to submit data other than the "HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden" page?

Please change this ASAP (besides localisation) - this is really ugly and confuses clients. Is there an ETA for this?
