The new way of creating Tasks as a Checklist is not going over well with our company. The previous version, has a Milestone & Task relationship that was intuitive. My company would like to see Tasks created directly on the Milestones screen.

For all intents and purposes, let's assume:
- A Milestone has Tasks to complete in order to meet a deliverable, that are date specific.
- A Checklist is an ongoing list of To-Do items, that are date optional.

Maybe this is an American English assumption, I don't know...but it is assumed in our company.

Forcing the user to create a checklist and then assign a Milestone to it, is so utterly loathed we can't roll-out the Milestones, or Tasks to Project Management. They will not adopt it. The Method for creating a task is so convoluted they get lost, and confused.

This new implementation in 1.0.X release is possibly going to keep us from using the tool entirely.

I am having the same problem. Users at my company are having trouble with the the need to create a milestone and then a checklist on two different screens. I agree the tasks should be created on the milestone screen. I also suggest that a field be added to the milestone entry screen for Description (as well as Summary and Start and End Date). Right now an .ics file created by activeCollab looks like this:

EGIN:VCALENDAR
METHOD:PUBLISH
PRODID:-//192.168.1.40//NONSGML iCalcreator 2.2//
VERSION:2.0
X-WR-CALNAME: Project Name, by Company Name, Inc.
calendar
BEGIN:VEVENT
DESCRIPTION:Interest Group Meeting\n\nhttp://www.xxx.c
om/activecollab/public/index.php/projects/8/milestones/282
DTEND:20071113T000000
DTSTAMP:20071101T000000Z
DTSTART:20071112T000000
PRIORITY:5
SUMMARY:Interest Group Meeting
UID:20071101T015905CET-vVUI1EBvEl@192.168.1.40
END:VEVENT
END:VCALENDAR

As you can see, the Description field is simply a copy of the Summary field with the URL back to the activeCollab milestone added. When you add this .ics file data to your calendar, the data in the description field shows up as a note. Right now this is the same data. With the additional field available, this could contain much more detail relating to the milestone.

Finally, a milestone needs to have the ability to be set on a single day - right now it has to have a start and stop time that are on 2 different days, which is also confusing for users.

Nothing changed in how things connect together. It's the same model as in 0.7.1, but there are two problems in the interface:

1. No direct way to add objects from Milestone page.

2. No way to add tasks when creating a new Checklist.

Have I missed something?

We are aware of these problem and we'll work on fixing them. Thank you for the feedback...

I think the ability to add files from the Milestone page would do the trick. Update 1.0.4 added the ability to associate a milestone with a project. If a file could be added directly when creating a milestone, this would eliminate a step.
