We changed quite a few bits in permissions implementation. You can read more about it on activeCollab blog:

=> Permission denied – How roles and permissions work in aC 1.0

All comments and suggestions are welcome (please post them on the blog to keep things in one place ;) ).

Hi Ilija,

I know that you said to comment on roles/permission in the blog, but the was closed so I thought this area would be the next best thing.

I think that the roles and permission could be enhanced for more detailed permissions for each role. For example, as an Administrator I have no choice but to allow my Contractor to communicate with the client. Usually the Contractor doesn't communicate directly (i.e. messages, file uploads, etc) with the client and then again there are times, depending on the industry, where the Contractor does communicate directly with the client. Therefore it would be great to have a permission that determines whether a Contractor can add Messages, Pages, Files, etc.

There should also be an approval process (can be turned on or off) for each feature (messages, files, pages, etc) that the contractor has access to. For example, I have a Contractor submitting files and messages, but I need to approve them before the client can view them. Right now as it stands If my Contractor wanted to destroy my client relationship they can upload a pic of a naked woman or send an obscene message.

I hope I explained this correctly.

Thanks for all your had work Ilija,

AJ
