Good Morning,

Our company was recently looking into a web based UI for our clients. After doing some research I settled on ProjectPier. A week later ino customizing the code to suit our needs, we have decided it may be better to go with the activeCollab code in order to receive better support. (Currently I am the only employee with any coding experience, and I will be leaving in 4 months)

However, activeCollab as it stands looks to be overcomplicated for what we need. Simply, I would just edit the program to remove excess features that arent needed. Now this leads to the problem of support. I absolutly need to be able to edit the code in order to make it simpler for clients to use. IE: I will disable time tracking, clean up the overviews page (Move things the clients dont need to below the list of changes), change the order of the tabs to fit what they are looking for, etc.

If I do this, what kind of support will the company receive in my absence? I know changes to the code arent encouraged for upgrading reasons, but without the changes the program will be too complicated for the average client user, and will create a few problems in doing so.

Any word on what kind of support they would receive? Would the support be null because the code is modified?

We do support apps with modified code (every day usage, migration to other server, stuff like that), but we do not support modifications directly. If you decide to upgrade your setup you'll need to reapply modifications on new version if you want to keep them.
