In my attempts to duplicate the timetracking module for another use, I have come across the activeCollab error box. However, it doesnt show any useful information at all, and turning DEBUG to 2 also doesnt help.

Is there any useful way to find the error?

What would you include in useful way of find errors? We've been developing activeCollab with this error box and it worked quite well, but maybe I'm missing something.

Anything really. This box doesnt show anything. It doesnt tell where an error occured at all, just that there is an error.

Do you get the error message like the one I've attached or something else? What error message do you get?

These templates use short open tags so you should enable them in php.ini (by setting short_open_tags to On).
