time reporting?

Once time is entered for a variety of projects, how do we access that info? Do we have to go in to each project one at a time or is there a way to generate a report of time entered (all time for a client, all time for a certain month, etc.)?
Also, is there a way to associate with particular tasks?

Time reports are available per project. You can download this information in CSV format and do all sort of reporting and manipulation with it if built in reporting system is not enough.

Is that a manual CSV download through MySQL or something or is there a tool that I haven't yet found that does that?

You get the data from report pages of all the projects you want to analyze and put them together in an Excel or any other tool you are using and work with it from there.

As a 'in-process of migrating' basecamp user, it would be nice to have a global time report for specific periods, users, etc. - similar to the reporting of a specific project just company wide.
The current reporting is adequate for dumping information for client billing purposes but falls short on the flipside - payroll. It would be nice to see how much time our users have in the system from period 1 to period 2 (say this week).
Exporting data from each project, pulling it together in Excel, cleaning it up is tedious at best.
A global time report would ideal.

I -totally- second that. The time tracking feature of AC is usable right now, but definitely not to its full potential.
What we have right now:
- Easy to enter time records on a per-project basis (time log)
- Not-so-easy to enter time records on a per-ticket basis (not so intuitive)
- Reporting by project (only), for all or a specific employee and within a specific time period (last week, this month, custom, etc.)
Essentially, this is about it. (It's already a good start!)
What would be essential:
- Time record on tasks
- Global time reporting (throughout projects)
Ex: I want to know how many hours Mr. Developer worked last two weeks... independently of projects.
What would be exceptionally nice:
- Budget (in hours) on tasks and tickets
- Reporting on spent time vs budget for projects (did my completed project go under/over budget?)
What would be amazingly wonderful:
- Percentage completion on tasks and tickets
- Comparison of completion vs spent time vs budget, to identify budget problems.
Ex: I have a budget of 10 hours on task XYZ. We already spent 8 on the task, but I evaluate it at only 40% completed. I need to react.
My two cents... take it or leave it :)
Hope this project is off to a successful start!

I would like to make a third request for this notion. Global time reporting is really important when tracking to pay time to developers that are working on many projects.

Leon:I really hope the time tracking function is improved in 1.1!!
It is. Changes include time tracking for subtasks (in Checklists, Pages, Tickets...), much better reporting on global and project level and ability to mark a record as billed.
