Cannot tell about v0.7.1, but many of our customers are using 1.0 and 1.1 successfully on GoDaddy servers and nobody reported issues with mailing.
You might try using SMTP server instead of native mailer if you have access to one. That'll work even when mailing is not properly configured in your PHP setup.
