CitizenK:
Anyway, aC is already very much usable, and this wouldn't be an essential feature per se, but it could really complement very well a 1.0 release ("look, you can do this, and that, and you have this easy way to check/backup/move your data, so no problem in just trying it out for a while" could be a selling point).

Good point. I've added it to the list.

PS: Thank you for your hard and thorough work!

:) Hey, its fun...

The feature list looks great!
Ilija, do you have any opinions on which features will be easiest to code/could be opened up to community contribution easily? Print friendly stylesheets for basic reports looks pretty easy to me. Also, creating XSLT to transform data from the XML export functionality into RSS should be simple enough...

Not sure if the previous person meant this specifically, but report generation would be awesome.

Also, related, an At A Glance sort of screen so clients and the company can see, perhaps visually, what's been done between such and such time range. It would be great way to pinpoint which projects have had the most and least activity, etc.

I'm about to set up a new developer website (just Trac with SVN, but its enough for the start). We'll discuss contributions and other related things when we get it up and running.

Is there a plan to have some kind of calendar-view? Possibly also something similar to Basecamp's 14-day view? This would be a huge feature request from me.

Yes, one user (Patrick) already created a patch. It will end up in the codebase with few changes when we start working on the interface (after the big changes to the model that will be done in 0.7).

interesting application - thanks. Already better imho than Basecamp.

Two requests though (if I may be so cheeky)...

1) Documents. The current paradigm is 'attach binary document' and so it's little better than an annotated shared drive. Please could you add the ability to create a text/html/markup document and have that handled by the system? This would be ideal for creating notes of meetings, requirements, descriptions etc. Bascamp's WriteBoards are pretty neat when used within BC, even though the markup is limited. The wiki-esque multiauthoring is ideal, as is the diff'ing. Trac does a nicer job in its wiki and kupu in plone is a nicer wysiwyg editor. Still, a clone of that would be ideal - just integrate it with the Documents so that the spurious differential between documents and wiki is not perpetuated.

2) Contacts. At present the paradigm (also in BC) is that the only contact information on the system relates to users who have privileges.
Would it be possible to have a shared contact database? An example would be if this were a project repository for a set of journos or bloggers who need to have a list of contacts to hand (and who can be added to tasks) eg "Ring James at Microsoft for an interview in the NYT" - that sort of thing.
Littering one's on PIM contacts with hundreds of press and PR contacts sucks, and sharing/actioning is still a pain...

Just a few thoughts :)

Watching progress with interest and willing you on!

It would be very useful to have separate stylesheets for printing.

Cheers,
Peter

Yes. New discussion.

Just had a look at Trac. Very nice. Too bad it's in Python: the requirements are quite overwhelming for someone with next to no Py experience.

Will we be doing something similar in aC?

Will there be a plugin facility? Is that the API?

Thanks,
- AAA
