Fatal Error when Turkish language pack is used (tr_TR)

Hi merttol,

We would really appreciate if you could provide us FTP access to the server, because this issue repeats with each customer from Turkey. Sounds crazy, but everyone got this very same error. Also, the solution I had found isn't a long-term fix because it's also crazy one with no logical explanation (I discovered it in a deep desperation, completely accidentally) and that's why we'd like to take a better look to try to understand what is going on there - that way we'd get the opportunity to prevent this weird issue from popping up every now and then.

We take our customers' privacy seriously. Each time we get to someone else's FTP and/or activeCollab, we focus on the problem and deal with it as fast as we can. After the problem is solved, we leave and move to another issue that is waiting in a queue - or towards working on features if there are no more support requests. Digging through other people's data isn't something that we do. I can't even remember any project name that I've seen, not to mention something else.

If you are still bound to the policy of not giving us the access to your setup, let us know and I'll write down those numerous steps which may patch your setup.

Hello Mert,

Sorry for the late reply, your PM hadn't reach me (it's sent by e-mail and google must have stripped it out from my inbox) and I didn't subscribe to this thread after posting the first reply here.

Here's what has to be done.

1. At MySQL acx_config_options table set the value of "language" to "N;". That will restore the default language to English and make you able to access the setup again.
2. Log in to activeCollab, go to Admin->Languages and remove all language packs except the English
3. Add a Turkish language. Don't create language files, don't set it as the default language - just add it
4. Add ANOTHER Turkish language. Make sure that you enter the "locale" field value different from the first Turkish language to avoid colision with language directories' names
5. Set the second Turkish language as default language (the one added at step 4) and set it as preferred language in your profile.

If the error comes up again, repeat the whole process (sometimes I needed to 2-3 times to have it work finally).

In case that no errors come up, feel free to remove the first Turkish language (added at step 3) and you will be able to continue working on translating the language files.

Update on this issue is provided here.

Basically, this is a pretty old PHP issue that causes activeCollab to crash. We'll check what we can do on our end to have this covered (if possible), but for now it's not recommended to use tr_TR locale.

Please check the topic I linked in the first sentence for the details.
