Just had a look at Trac. Very nice. Too bad it's in Python: the requirements are quite overwhelming for someone with next to no Py experience.

Will we be doing something similar in aC?

Will there be a plugin facility? Is that the API?

Thanks,
- AAA

activeCollab currently can not be used as a Trac replacement. It does not have anything that Trac has: anonymous access, wiki, bug tracker, repo browser etc. So, answer is No for now.

But, in the near future activeCollab will introduce support for plugins, full API, maybe even support for anonymous access. With that features in place some experienced developed could make an aC distro that can be used as a Trac replacement. Who knows... :)

So, current goals are to make aC stable and extensible. In the future we can add various plugins to it.

I would love to be able to import/export .vcd (vCard) files to and from the contacts area. I've read the previous request for exporting to XML, which I also think is a great idea, but .vcd files are great for the very specific purpose of not having to re-enter contact info from your address book (or vice versa, of course).

I hope to see this implemented. Then, you'll be better than Basecamp AND Joyent! :)

Keep up the good work!

I like how easy this is to use. I've tried egroupware and it's far too massive for my needs.
My projects involve many of the same tasks and processes. It would be nice if there was a way to setup project 'templates' that would auto-fill data, tasks, messages, milestones into a newly created project. Does this sound possible?

This one is out of the scope for now (we have some really big code changes going on in the next month or two), but we'll keep it noted.

They best way to requst a feature and not to let that request get forgoten in the forum is to submit a ticket on our Trac installation. Describe what you want in simple words and we'll work on it when we get time.

Project templates are planned for 1.0, but don't tell anyone ;) :D

Can I give my suggestions too?

- Tasks can improve a lot, I read you are going to improve it, but I did not see about filtering and automatic filtering. Are you planning that? I gave up GForge because of the horrible usability with the tasks...

- What about calendar for groups and individuals? Did you think of anything similar?

I think activeCollab it's a great tool with a great interface! Please keep up the good work!

Is it possible to distinguish milestiones, task lists, tasks, ... with different colors? Especially, if working with dashboard?

If someone is looking at recent changes it is much more simple to distinguish recent changes just by looking at colors.

E.g.: let's say that milestones are in pink :) and tasks are green. If there is a recent change to a milestone one finds this without reading every entry. He sees a pink color and then he knows that something more interesting happened, not just another task.

It can be done just like in the 'Milestones' page, milestones are orange and so they should be on dashboard. This feature could reborn the grey look of individual pages.

Thanks for any work towards this feature. Anyway, ActiveCollab is very well crafted piece of software, keep up the good work!

I applaud your work so far - and your clear intentions of keeping this webapplication simple. Please resist the many feature calls for ever more esoteric functions. I think a specialized app is more usefull than a jack of all trades. Look at the Vanilla Forum which is small, dedicated to the job, fast, easily expanded with plugins and styles.

For people who need forums, wikis, calendars, workgroups, address managers, image libraries and file repositories - it's all already available. There will never be an Überproduct that solves everything. We can only hope for specialized webapps that talk to each other via good APIs.

Thanks.
