Having the planning module is a much better selling point with my companies' project managers. Before this they were trying to push "phpcollab" which hasn't been updated since 2003 and has zero support.

I love ActiveCollab and their developers and a big fan of Apps Magnets' value add.

I am excited to see this fully integrated into the AC2.1 menu panel.

Great Job Apps Magnet folks.

Hi there. I'm very excited for the planning module. We're actually looking in to building some similar functionality, but would rather just use the planning module.

A couple of quick questions:
1. How will the module handle template projects and creating projects using templates?

2. When I used the demo version the assignees were a type-in field as opposed to a drop down. WIll the final version be a drop down?

3. One of the projects in the demo appears to be the activecollab module. Are the time frames included in that project accurate for the actual project or are they placeholders?

please let me know when you get a second. thanks.

@tswilling: If you are referring to Planning module icon not showing in the menu panel at top; Planning module icon will show up in the top menu panel with default theme. It won't show with Access theme. There is a hack you can perform to get it to show there though. Please refer to readme.txt in the zip file for that!

@lcfeves:
1. Planning module currently does not handle creating projects. You create a project using activeCollab, and manage its plan from Planning module. So you can certainly create a new project using template from AC and it will show up in Planning module.

2. Assignees will be a type-in field. That's by design. The planning module is smart to recognize short forms though. So instead of typing full names, you can type in only initials, first names or first name and last name initial. Planning module will auto expand them. We did this to allow adding multiple people quickly.

3. Demo project timelines are placeholders.

HTH.

It looks like a great feature to extend AC indeed.
Is there already a release date in sight?

Sorry but no release date yet. We will do it as soon as we feel it's ready for production use. It's in paid private beta for Reports module customers right now.

Were can I get the beta? We're a customer of the Reports module. Then I'll translate the planning to Dutch as well. ;-)

Can we expect to have access to the private beta of the planning module if we get the Reports module today? The Planning module is actually something we are really looking forward to.

We would be willing to contribute to the beta phase.

All current customers of Reports module were informed of Planning module beta this Sunday. If you are an existing customer and did not get the email - 1. please check you junk / spam folder if it went there! 2. send me an email, and I will send you the purchase link.

But Planning module does not support localization yet. We will add localization support in stable release.

Anybody who purchases Reports module, will get a link to buy the Planning module beta version in the sale confirmation email. You get a huge discount on the Planning module + get to participate in the beta! So yes, if you buy Reports module now, you will get to participate in Planning module beta.

Thanks.
