I am in the process of getting set up with aC.
I need to know how to tackle an installation with the following constraint:

My hosting provider tells me that php5 is available but to use it all files must have the extension .php5. I'm happy to do a global rename on the unzipped aC directory. Is that all I need to do or will I need to edit any of the source files? Can you think of any other potential problems?

I have users assigned to the parent company that I want to move to a client company. What would I have to do to move a user to a client company? Can I edit something in the database?

I would like to have 'global' files that some or all clients/users can access. I don't see a way to have files for the main company. I started to set up a separate project for this purpose, but to give clients access, this would show who the clients are to each other.
I can have a password protected part of my site separate from aC but that would require an additional log in, defeating effectiveness.

Any suggestions how I could accomplish this with aC?

What about moving (copying) files from one project to another? Can I do that?

Could I take advantage of users already being logged in for aC by putting my files somewhere related to aC and using the same authentication? Anything so that those successfully logged in to aC would also have access to this directory but otherwise restricted. I don't know how to do this yet but if it seems to be likely possible I would try to figure it out!

That sounds interesting, and beyond my current skills. I will keep it in mind as I become more familiar with activeCollab and learn more PHP, and in the meantime I can have a folder of files for each project that would have copies of the general files. Thank you.
