Setup with companies?

We're doing the demo right now, and I'm wondering about the Companies objects. We'll be using aC for internal projects, not for consulting/service work. We're a smaller company (staff of 7), so we're not divided into departments either. Is there a best practice for leveraging "Companies" in this sort of non-unique use? Do people use this for grouping projects in some way?
