Recommended Hosting Service Provider

Hello,
I have bought the corporate version of activeCollab and looking for hosting service provider who supports all the extensions which are required by activeCollab. Currently, I have shared hosting with GoDaddy who support all the extensions except imap.

I want the support for imap too.

thanks

Hi Pratik,

IMAP only stops emails coming into the projects/tasks, not sending of notifications from AC. Depending on where in the world you were accessing your AC from, I would look at Rackspace.com.

You can log a support ticket at godaddy and see if you can get that module available.

Good Hunting,

Hello
I have the exact same problem with GoDaddy, which service provider did you end up with, I would greatly appreciate it if you responded to this message.

Many thanks

We are a hosting company. We use ActiveColab and have all of the modules installed that you need to make ActiveColab work properly. I can give you a special discount on hosting if you send me a PM and request more information.

Hello Rob
I now have a shared hosting plan with Just Host, and at the moment I am very happy :-) It has all the extensions AC requires, it also offers unlimited space and domains and cron jobs by the minute! If you pay an extra 30$ or so a year you can have it hosted on their super fast server. Max file upload is 10MB. The memory limit is 64MB, which hasn't been a problem yet for thumb nail images.

Another important issue for AC is the amount of open database connections per user and per site it requires. Many shared hosting only offer 10 connections per user and maybe 20 for an entire site. Just Host offers 40 for a user and 400 for a site! I haven't had a database error yet!

Because of the nature of my business, I run AC on SSL and it downloads really quick. For a small fee they offer back-ups, but only 24 hours and one doesn't know what time it was backed-up, that is perhaps the only draw back, but in AC's download section you will find someone is selling an AC cloud backup module.

I used to run AC on a dedicated linux server with Easyspace, which used to cost me a small fortune and constant maintenance. Now that I understand AC and how it's installed and maintained, I would never use that option until my employees & client base gets significantly larger. Just Host support is the best I've experienced, and again if you pay a little extra they respond apparently faster. I don't pay that, but I have always had a response within the hour.

I hope this helps, I spent a lot of time and money trying to find a good shared hosting plan, I hope I will spare you that. GoDaddy grid hosting is excellent, however I had to ditch it because it doesn't offer imap extensions. Imap is essential for AC's incoming mail module, which is a total must have for modern web applications!....for some reason GoDaddy hasn't understood that :-(

Kind regards

Thank you everybody for your time and tons of information. I ended up with VPS with Godaddy and configured everything on my own. It works like a charm!!!

Thanks

Hello Pratik A.
I have purchased a VPS with Godaddy but can't seem to manage to setup the entire configuration and get it to work...especially the integrated email notifications.
Anyone able to help with that ?
Thanks
Seb
