Who can delete projects?

Hello,

I am quite new to AC and did not find how to revoke delete permission for projects from selectable users.
It should be managed through roles but I cannot find the correct settings.

Hi Ralf,

Members with project_management and admin_access permissions set to Yes in their system role (project managers and administrators) can delete projects. Please check Roles & Permissions article for details.

Is there a finer granulation of delete permissions available? E.g. "may delete only his/her own projects"? Here all employees of the development department are permitted to create projects. Delete permission should be limited to the department manager.

Hello Ralf,

No, there are no additional permissions. Things are as simple as described in comment #2 - if you are an administrator or a project manager, you will be able to delete project.

Now back to your setup. Have you considered revoking project management permissions to people who just need to be able to create new project? If they need just that, and no other project management features (access to all project, cross project filters etc), than they don't need to be project managers.

Create project permission (permission name is add_project when you are configuring system role) can be set independently. Check Roles and Permissions article for list of all system role permissions and what they do.

Meanwhile I did revoke project manager role from almost all other users -- should work.

O.k., will read that.

Our plans are: We are a medium sized company developing and producing electronic equipment. Our development department needs help to manage its projects. For later retrieval we need a search capability which searches through all active, competed and canceled projects. Users with this role should not be able to change, create or delete projects -- just search for.

Is ActiveCollab the right piece of software for this challenge?

Hello Ralf,

Users can search only through projects that they are assigned to, that's the rule. Only exception are people with project management or administration permissions - they can see, search and access all projects, but they can also manage them, add new things to them, update existing, manage people involvement etc. activeCollab does not have a mid ground here - user either sees only projects that he is involved with, or all projects (when he's a project manager).
