IMHO all lists of projects and contacts should be listed alphabetically....everywhere.
For instance, if I go to Administration->Tools->Mass Mailer and try to send a message to a bunch of people it is very difficult to find anyone using my eyes. I have to leave it up to Firefox's wonderful inline text search to find everything.

Of course that should be done...very annonying at the moment...other sorting possibilites for project listing would be
- upcoming milestones
- number of tasks to do
tbc
- upcoming milestones

Agreed. Ticket #184.
On what pages? Upcoming milestones are ordered by date they are scheduled, descending. Sorting them by name does not make any sense to me.

i mean sorting the my project page by upcoming milestone (the projects with the nearest milestones first) or sorting the project by the number of tasks to do.
dont know if it makes sense, just an idea.
