Hello. We just recently installed & began using activeCollab. I wanted to ask the more experienced users as to how you would best suggest it be used for a company like ours.
i.e. I read another forum that suggested using milestones instead of projects for tracking magazine issues.
Any others using it for design or drafting firms?
I am using it for my graphic design business... so we could have similar needs, as far as dealing with visual materials. I'd really like to see a basic image gallery built in to ActiveCollab, that could allow for commenting on individual images within the system. I've seen other posts about flash or javascript-based image viewers to include, but this is not really what I need. Just a way to view and comment on individual images, also with a thumbnail view for the grouping of images.

Post an image into files section. activeCollab will create a thumbnail. You can comment on single files in the system. If you wish, you can create images folder just for images.

Yes, that's useful, but not to the extent that I think it has the potential to be. This is obviously beyond the core of aC's proposed features, but it would be great if a plug-in or whatever was created that could:
- allow multiple size views of a single image, thumbnail & larger view (without downloading file)
- allow for upload of multiple images together to create such a gallery
- a simple, user-friendly gallery option, for clients to easily browse through many images and have the option to give feedback on each one. maybe a separate window without the other menus.
- have an "approval" checkbox, or customizable feedback areas on each image (could be accomplished with "Forms"?)
This would be useful, especially when integrating something like viewing the results from a digital photoshoot online... could be hundreds of images. If this could be integrated into aC, and the browsing and feedback on the photoshoot could all be routed through the system, that would be amazing!
I wish I knew how to do this, but I am no programmer. Hoping this suggestion might spur someone else to do this - I know many would find it useful.
thanks

you aware that aC is a *project* management tool, not a *photo* management tool ? i believe this would be oversized, even as a plugin. but just my 2ct
but it's not simply that - it's a tool for collaborative project management. many *projects* involve reviewing and commenting on visual materials by different people. the capability to gather that data from those people in a centralized system certainly falls into the category of *collaboration* ;)
Realizing this isn't a "tips & tricks" topic, and it's not just related to architecture, i started a new thread in "feature requests" on this subject:
