How do you use aC?

bloom:I second the global milestone calendar. That would be fantastic in our University install where we've got several dozen projects going on at any time between departments. It's the only thing that isn't included in the current install that was on our requirement list...here's hoping it's implemented.
As soon as the plug in API is done I'm sure it'll come out quite shortly if it's not an official feature.
You can still sort of a make a global calendar, you just have to add the feed for each one (using google calendar for instance). It's a bit of a pain if you have a large user base, but until we have something else it still works!

You could log into the different aC accounts and add the different users iCalendar-URLs to your Google Calendar as you would do with your own, which is described here.

We wanted the same functionality, and outlined how we achieved it. Once the plugin api is written, I'll rewrite it so it's externalized. See the disclaimer on my post.

We use aC for our creative solutions company to track projects, who is working on them, and where they stand. Haven't brought in clients yet.
Have a question though, our team of designers each work for themselves, is there a way to add them as a member without associating them to our company?
I agree on the calendar, that would be handy. A chat function would be handy, but not critical.

I just discovered AC while looking for ways to organize a video production crew at a mega church. We've found that shooting emails around the building to say, hey you're going to shoot this, and then pass it off to whoever to edit and they'll give it to someone else to add graphics and then finally give it to another person to have it reviewed by group requesting and then output just gets way too confusing.
some people reply to the emails saying ok, or making small changes to the flow, and then others dont see it.
has anyone used AC to actually organize a production department? i see graphics departments using it, can anyone give me a typical setup of the project in AC? including due dates, milestones, everything? I have played with the setup a bit, but i dont understand why there are tasks vs milestones, even though i read the post where someone explained it..
