A bit of background: I'd installed ActiveCollab and was using the Database storage for attachments but after about a month saw how big the MySQL DB was getting, and switched to File storage. I've moved servers twice, and now want to clean things up a bit, but I can't delete some of those original files, even if I switch back to Database storage.

Is there a way to remove them manually using PhpMyAdmin?

Binary data is stored in file_repo table. If you are using file system storage now you can empty the whole table (including data in file_repo_attributes table). Backup first...
