Ilija Studen:Just be patient. That's all...riceboyler:What can we in the community do to help?
I have no doubt that you must be feeling a little harrassed, Ilija, but all the people asking when the new version will be ready, and when you're releasing it, etc. (I know I'm very keen for this, too!) But at the same time I think it just goes to show how much people really like activeCollab and really want to see it continue. You must feel like a proud daddy some days! :)
So, ermm... When's the new version out? ;-)
(Just kidding - don't answer that!)

I actually kind of like not knowing. With the big companies (aka Microsoft, etc...), they set a date, then it gets moved, then it gets moved again. It kinda makes you wanna, well, do things to Microsoft execs that you could get arrested for.
With not knowing, it increases the anticipation. When it finally comes out, imagine what a relief it will be.
Of course the other fun comes from watching people go mental on the forums trying to find out when it is coming out...
Just kidding guys.
Kudos Ilija for keeping us up to date on what's happening.

Ilija,
Can you even give us an estimated timeline? less than a month? More than a month? Also with V1.0 can we go in and hack it up to fit our needs?
Thanks..

@lomu09... That's a great question. I was wondering that myself!
@ilija... Will we be able to download activeCollab 1.0 as a package for use on our very own PHP & MySQL capable servers, or will we have to use a version which is permanently situated on this website.
I absolutely must know! If I can't download the free version, I'm either going to build my own, or just switch straight over to Basecamp.
Either way, 0.7.1 was great! Thanks for all your effort, Ilija, and good luck with the release!
PS... Who's working with you on 1.0?

You will be able to alter it's behavior through plugins, but we'll see what parts of source will be available for hacking.

You will be able to download and install activeCollab on your own server.

i think the most frustrating part is that we have NO idea when this is going to be released. We aren't asking for a day we are just asking for a general time line. Are we months out? The reason I am asking is if we are only a month or so i will wait if not i will customize what you have now. Thanks for the response in advance.
@lomu9... I totally agree, which is why I have decided to move away from activeCollab. I don't need to know the exact second when it's coming out. Weeks or months'll do!

It is an unfortunate situation.
On one hand you have Ilja who does not want to commit to any timeframe in case they end up not being able to meet it. (Look at the site transfer, they had no idea they wouldn't be done by now).
On the other hand some of us unfortunately based projects / business systems around ActiveCollab and have been waiting months and months for features / releases / fixes and are now in a position that we cannot even give timelines to our management on what we are doing because there is no information on this site.
If ActiveCollab is going commercial and wants to charge, then it should start acting like a business and understanding it's customers needs for timeframes and costing.
September has been floated around as a launch date for 1.0 however nothing has been confirmed and no pricing has been released. Exactly how do your potential customers budget for purchasing ActiveCollab in September if it's an unknown cost? Is the release even September? You see our problem..
There is more to making ActiveCollab commerical than adding a price, it's understanding your customers.

I agree 100% with you adamld. I'm not fussed on the exact day aC 1.0 will be released either, but I thought information on pricing would have been made public by now - My concern is that aC 1.0 will cost more then I'm prepared to pay, or that I may need to budget for the software. I'm not seeking a detailed list of what's included in the price, but knowing will help for budgeting sakes. Ilija can you let us know a 'ball park' cost figure for aC 1.0?
