1000s of projects

I have a kind of unorthodox use for activeCollab, in that the projects will be small, probably short containers for information... but I will probably need 1000s of them. I know that it says "unlimited" projects, but is this true? Will I run into any problems if I have say, 3000 projects? How big might the MySQL database need to be for that? Any guidance would be most appreciated :)
activeCollab supports as many projects as you have space in your database. in version 0.7 the database is pretty slim. I spent a lot of time looking at the code and database and I'm sure the database won't be your problem unless you have a ridiculously small amount of disk space, but I can't speak for the upcoming version 1.0, though I'd imagine the same.
You *might* however lose some performance on the dashboard/project page that list all your projects, but if you have a decent web server, i doubt you'll even notice, apart from the time it takes to download the web page (I don't think version 0.7 supports paging of the project list).
This is all speculation though. There's only one way to find out. Let us know if you try it :)

Thanks for your educated guess. I will report back once it's filled out.
I currently use it in a similar way and we have hundreds of projects and it does slow down a bit.
With thousands you will experience issues with the dashboard load times as levi suggested, a lot of this is because the list on the right currently does not truncate with a "more" button, it lists everything.
