Will ActiveCollab be right for me?

Hello guys and gals. I am the tech director and a board member of the Byrd Theatre Foundation. Our goal is to restore the Byrd Theatre to like-new and expand the breadth of its community participation and local business interaction. We currently use Basecamp and are questioning the (****#1****) inability to fully export our data and customize to our needs. I will explain how we would like to use this application and would like the community to help determine ways for us to make it work. I will number the problems and please refer to them if a solution is known/found/created or if ActiveCollab already supports this.
We have the foundation that is divided into committees: Board members, Fund-raising, Marketing, Bylaws, etc. As of now we treat each committee as a company and organize the projects in that manner. The problem we have with Basecamp is our Board members are also chairs of committees and (****#2****) when posting messages, a committee may be selected to notify as a whole but Board members must be selected individually. We would like them to be listed in each committee in which they participate/chair but still remain in the Board's listing as a member with wider privileges. Basically multiple memberships.
Privileges are a pain in Basecamp because they are only editable inside each project (****#3****), rather than by person. If John Smith needs to have access changed on 35 projects I must go into each project and change his permissions rather than go into his identity's entry and edit all his access from one place. I would also like to have (****#4****) customizable groups of permissions for frequently used sets of settings and if altered set the user to a 'unique' permissions setting to let me know they have permissions different from the rest and don't fit any groups.
(****#5****) I would like to customize the email notifications.
(****#6****) I would like to have messages automatically break (be limited in amount displayed on the main page) instead of having two text boxes in the post message page.
(****#7****) I would like to be able to reply to an email and have it posted as a comment and have my signature automatically erased from the comment.
(****#8****) Basecamp Importer... it's a bit evil but boy would I love you.
Since it's on our server I guess picking any domain and stuff is now pretty much unlimited so SWEET! no more subdomains!
Thanks all for any input! I hope I can kick Basecamp to the curb and customize away!

Yes creating a decent website is in the works.

Great to hear about the Oct 5th go live date. Do you have any info on the API documentation (eager to get started on plug-in dev)
