Because they're all slightly burned out, and slightly tired of the hastle, and slightly cynical.

But think of this: the failure could be more mysterious, more expensive, and more mission critical! As I learned it, "Relax! Better to break big bones than little ones!"
Sweet ... can put that to use, I bet we can! *grin*

Ilija? I was gonna point you to http://developer.berlios.de/ ... I suspect they differ from SForge in some fundamentals.

cheers
Not 2 hours ago I exchanged notes with the NCSA grad who created HyperNews in the mid90s, chatting about "fear and loathing | dread of success" (Ilija and I back-channel as well) and snickered about the consequences of being /.'d ... and thus it is, and thus it is. heh
Space and BW are not the problem. Problem was that current server was brought down with the concentrated traffic from Digg. I really don't know why do they need 2 days to get things back online :( Load is pretty normal now.

Ilija Studen:

BenTrem:
Traditionally that [''demo site''] is listed along with Download and Documents and FAQ, yes?

Your 100% right. Only page with demo access is homepage. I'll change this soon.

Looking at HomePage again just now ... "Download" should be demoted, I think; it monopolizes the most important area. (Latest user tests confirm that appreciation of the page begins upper-left and proceeds downward in a ragged Z shape, with only slight attention to the right. "Users don't read" remains painfully true.)

This lists typical active projects at SourceForge that manifest the convention:
OpenCYC; NxBRE; YALE; refdb.sourceforge.net; inkscape.org.
Fabulous. I know of no project management / tracking system that makes such good use of techniques, but can think of no good reason for this to be so. "It's the shoemakers' children who are last to get shoes." The early Netscape used the concept of "dogfood" i.e. developments that helped the process of developing the ''end product''. I think a really fine AJAX GUI should be considered dogfood. (Hope this isn't inappropriately philosophical in this forum.) I suspect that ZK will be easily sufficient for good prototypes.

p.s. have you looked at / used netvibe.com? I've tried/used other AJAX desktop-style aggregators ... netvibe has a very nice feel to it. Cognitive ergonomics, yes? (Many years ago Japanese UI designers were talking about "pride of ownership". *shrug* I think it's a sweet idea.)
