That feature set is reserved for application that have more resource than classic LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL PHP) stack on shared hosting. It is impossible to build such a thing in a way that it can run on any PHP5 powered web host. Plus, most of the tools used for building such a system are not free.
Notification system similar to messages notifications will be added to file section too.

I've just been playing around with Koral and there are some really interesting features that could benefit aC.

*Ability to subscribe via RSS to individual documents so you know when they change
*Desktop messenger app that alerts you if you are working on an old version of a document
*Flash previews for uploaded files

Obviously the last two are likely to be fairly complicated, but the RSS feed to a document could be pretty useful and (from my limited knowledge of aC code) fairly easy to implement. What do you reckon?

Anyhow, check out Koral and a useful video presentation of it in action for some more ideas.
(BTW - What is up with hypertext links in the forum. The textism formatting "linktext":url doesn't seem to be working... i swear it used to but maybe I'm imagining things!)
