Hi,
I'm experiencing the exact same situation.
My setup is:
PHP 5.04. (with Zend Debugger, Optimizer etc.)
Apache 2.0.52
MySQL 4.1.20
(all of above passed install tests)
No errors in my php5.log (php.ini reporting level = E_ALL), and all activeCollab dirs are chmod'ed 777.
Also, activeCollab config.php: debug = true.
I tried executing index.php from the php CLI and got the following error:
*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (!prev): 0x091481d8 ***
Aborted
Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem as well. I installed on my home PC to test the application before hosting it somewhere (my host wont upgrade, so I'm going to have to mission finding another just for this, wanted to test it before going through all that).

Everything checked out fine and green in the pre-install check

Once, when I tried to go specifically to index.php I got some weird error message saying I was using the wrong version of PHP (but I think Apache wasn't running at the time and I can't reproduce that error now).
And now... all of a sudden, out of the blue without me doing anything different, now its suddenly working... Go figure. Well, I spent all that time typing this note up, damned if I am not posting it now ;)
