New pricing seems a lot more reasonable. I've still yet to bite into the apple, but I think it is easier to look at.

The only thing that will tip the scales now is to be able to try out the product...

Yeah, the new price model is much better.
I **might ** be able to afford the smaller package, but even if I can't, I still support Ilija in the fact that he's made the right decision in changing the plans.

Thanks for 0.71 Ilija :)

Ilija,

Your work as the author of ActiveCollab 0.7.1 code was, to say the least, outstanding. We, the team at OpenGoo are very thankful for it, as it served us with a framework on which to develop our project.

We never intended OGoo to be an AC fork, and we were hoping to rely on future AC versions for our framework. Luckily, as you said, there is a growing OpenSource community that will take on your effort and bring it forward. There is a project that we are working with, that does intend to be an AC fork: ProjectPier, which might serve as the future framework for OpenGoo. If it wasn't for you, that project would not exist.

Good luck on your new path. I'll stay around, and hope to have the chance to keep in touch with you.

will there be a straightforward update path from 0.7.1 to 1.0?

Yep. We have developed importer that can import data from activeCollab 0.7.1 database and it will be available for download when we launch.

I just want quickly reiterate what I said in this comment to the blog:

http://www.activecollab.com/blog/50/pricing-details-updated/#comment3814

For those of us not in the business of making money, but in desperate need of some project management tools, I hope there would at least be an opportunity for non-profit pricing if not a limited, free version. (Perhaps 50% discount as in Central Desktop)

I appreciate all the hard work the ac team has put in (even just to the pricing considerations), but I also hope you all appreciate the needs and lack of funds in fields like public health research and other non-profit ventures and make it easier for us to be part of your exciting innovations.

Tate, if you are looking for a open source alternative, then go to project pier. They will continue free and open development for 7.1

Ilija, Just as a side note to Tate, would there possibly be a small education discount?
Say 10% off for Students who provide some ID, such as a letter head from their school etc?

Thanks again for all the work you've put into this :)
