It would be nice to get automatic numbering when creating new projects, that could be used in other systems and so on. It could be possible to set a start number, together with a number to increment with.
Should also be possible to set this number manually, for example if you would import old projects.

Different organizations label their project differently (if they label them) - some use codes, some numbers etc.
Easiest way would be to put a number in the name of the project. Plugin can be created to do this automatically if this is a must for your organization. You can handle on_project_created event and update project name.

Yeah, that's true of course.. Would be nice to have the url match the project number, will have to look into the plugin architecture once released.

This would be immensely useful. A reference number system would enable instant search / locate of projects when you have many.
Sometiems it's hard to think what to search for. If you can give a customer / end user / client a reference number it would be very helpful.

This indeed would be a 'must have' feature for us. Could we possibly see it in an imminent update/plugin?

We'll consider this feature for upcoming releases, but I really can't promise you anything.
