I just wanted to post that we've been spending the past 3+ hours dealing with the extremely beta Importer module. We've narrowed down a major cause of our pain: the importer is terrible at handling anything to do with deleted users. On top of that, the error reporting of the module leaves a lot to be desired. I'd hope that extensive time is put into the importer as it is the first experience a lot of paying users deal with. Our upgrade process has been miserable.

Thanks, that got the projects imported.
For others going down this path: I had to dig through and find all milestones and tasks with names less than 3 characters and rename them. I found that the importer only flags the first of each type of object it cannot process for this reason, so you need to find them all.

Some severe import problems I've already noticed are:
- The only attribute of People that came across is their email address!
- Everyone now has Role: Administrators
- All projects now have me as Leader
- The project descriptions are *gone*. They need to move to the new overview field
- Company info is gone except for Name

The missing people attributes and project descriptions are a huge problem for us.

Thanks for the info. I have 1.0.6 running with the importer, and have imported most of our 60 or so small projects.
A couple of the imports are failing with errors such as:

Oops! We found some errors that need to be corrected before we can proceed
1. Faild to import milestone NL
2. Faild to import task F

and the import fails. How should these errors be corrected?

Only route possible is to upgrade to v1.0.6 as described here and than upgrade to v1.1.2 as described here.

Importer module is not our highest priority now. It's not a simple hack to make it work, but the whole module needs to be rewritten.

peterp:
- Would you recommend moving 0.7.1 to the new hardware, then upgrading the software, or upgrade the software first?

Import procedure will run faster on new hardware, but it should make no big different if you import 1 - 3 projects at once.

Greetings,
We are running 0.7.1 on an older server system and I would like to migrate to a shiny new 1.1.2 Corporate installation on newer hardware. What is the recommended upgrade path for this?

- Do I *really* have to install 1.0.6 first and upgrade twice to get to 1.1.2? Are you working on the issue?
- Would you recommend moving 0.7.1 to the new hardware, then upgrading the software, or upgrade the software first?

Thanks,

As I explained in this post and in reply to support ticket you submitted, activeCollab 0.7.1 importer works only with activeCollab 1.0.6, not with 1.1 and later. You can get a local 1.0.6 installation running, import data and than upgrade to v1.1.2 as instructed here.

Everything else is imported, but there's not that much else in there. I only have 2 projects on both of my installations of 0.7.2, so it doesn't really import much of anything because of the limitation. I guess I'll have to comb through and find the short posts.
