Hello,

Does the V1 include an option to choose another language ?

or is the french translation component already available and as easy to install as the v0.7 ?

Thank you

I asked the question (I am french too), but localization is not yet implemented unless I am mistaken.

The question is, when will it be ? I am about to buy the corporate licence, but if my clients can't have a french interface I can't upgrade from 0.7.1 :(

If it won't be ready for a few months, then I might just try to localized it in french by hacking the files language strings. Thing is, since I haven't seen the code, I have no idea if this will be easy or not...

Ilija,

Could you please let your international community know how do we localise AC, and (i Hope) how we can have each user/contractor/client set their preferred language in their Profile page, just like you have on your EE member admin Control Panel.

The reason why i initially choose AC 0,71 over Basecamp was because Basecamp wrote to me a rather cold note saying that they "felt" no need to offer this option in Basecamp.

I beg to differ.

We all communicate in English in the back office, but most clients are French.

I'm sure i'm not the only one in this situation.

Thanks a lot

Funny, got the same answer from 37signals... not cool for a visionnary company :-\

From what I have gathered, there will be localization for aC 1.0 (if not, I won't make the jump...).
Question is when ?

Laurent, did you look at aC 1.0's code ?

You should quickly see how to go about translating... If no localization is there yet, it means language strings are hardcoded otherwise you would have an english language file like there was before. A look at the config file will certainly make that clear in a blink...

My question is when too ?
i want to make the jump but want to know if they will provide a solution for french people ?

Hi everyone,

We don't have a complete localization system in activeCollab 1.0. Foundation is there (everything is printed through lang() functions), but we still need to build a tool that can go through all the files and create an index that can be translated.

Localization is one of our top priorities for upcoming releases.

Thanks

Thanks Ilija

I'm pretty sure you don't need to worry about the actual translating part. Just give us the means and I'll be happy to contribute. I believe to have heard other community members also willing to get their fingers dirty.

But above all, YES please; let each user/contractor/client choose their preferred language from their profile page.

Of course. We have per user themes in v1.0 and that one was really easy to implement ("per user" part :) ). Language is no different.

Or just "before the end of..."

Then i can answer too !
