I agree that a shared contact tool would be a great addition to AC --- I did not see this thread prior to my earlier post as a suggestion -- if you are interested to read it here -- http://www.activecollab.com/forums/topic/3266/

Maybe my idea is too involved, but even a down and dirty place to store contacts would be great --- I imagine this is made difficult by permissions who can see what contacts etc, but maybe if the contacts are grouped and permissions can be given by administrators and project leaders etc to contacts they have permission to etc. Or contacts could be "copied" to a project similar to how admin can copy milestones and tickets from one project to another.

I'm sure the clever team at AC could come up with something viable, the People tool is great for what it is but for now I'm still using Highrise but it makes for a disjointed workflow.

I am not sure if my ideas could be supported via Modules but if so I'd be interested to talk to someone about development

Hello,

I am totaly with the first author. Have a look at the "Achievo" System for inspiration on Contact Management. It's solved really great there, in my opinion...

Cheers
Nothing significantly changed with people management in activeCollab 1.1 (except new permissions system).

Vcard import would be the most universally useful feature to add to the contacts area. But beyond that, some direct Mac Address Book sync would be nice, and along with Basecamp importing, the ability to import from Highrise would be nice too (and another way to steal away some 37signals customers)

People section can be used as a basic contact management system for now. We do plan to improve it but I really cannot give you any more details at this point. We'll experiment with few ideas, listen to your suggestions and see how it goes from there.

Thank you! :)

Hello,

we are definitely thinking about using aC for our business. It looks perfect for our needs. But there is one thing i am missing at the moment: Contacts....
We want to have one database for all our contacts for all our team members. Are you planning to add such a module?
thanks for answer*

all the best...
