Largest part of the documentation is in the code (all methods, classes and functions are documented, we use names that make sense etc). Problem is that @package and @subpackage data is not good so generated documentation lacks good organization. This problem is being fixed as v1.1 is progressing and thanks to that we'll have full API documentation extracted from the source with release of v1.1.

Other documentation documents (tutorials, public API reference, articles that explain key concepts and how they fit together etc) are highly dependent on API docs so we cannot publish them without it although we have most of them done already.

So, it's v1.1...

... and so would I! The possibility to write extensions/modules was No. 1 on the top of my list of "reasons to switch to activeCollab" (I previously used Basecamp).
I have noticed on the forums that you seem to avoid the question of when documentation will be available for those of us who need to extend this product. What gives?

Hi,

I am planning to do the switch to activeCollab finally (after being disappointed by Basecamp and Goplan) and one of the strongest selling points for me is aC API.

As the others, I would really like to know when we could expect more docs on writing extensions and module repository mentioned above?

Download section similar to Mozilla Add-ons repository has been developed and we'll have it functional in the next couple of weeks. You will be able to publish your modules, themes and other files and add-ons there. You can distribute your own code using any license you want - open source or commercial as long as you don't redistribute code covered by activeCollab license.

Modules are packed for distribution by packing your main module folder from /activecollab/application/modules and module folder from /public/assets/modules. We'll release first downloadable activeCollab module in the next couple of days so you'll see how it is packed.

Thank you and great job!

Hey Ilija, We're going on 2 months since the above post. Any ideas when a "Module Download" area will be live?

Hi,

I was wondering how we should go about releasing modules and plugins. I'm all for open source and would like to share all I learn and create for aC under a GPL-like license. Obviously, in order to create a new module you are bound to re-use some of aC's own code, what can I distribute of this? Can I just zip the module folder I created and ship it off?

I'm aware the documentation still isn't ready, and I'm sure it will be covered there along with the API documentation. I can of course wait until it's ready and possible to distribute here.
