The "Project Manager" role is a global Project Manager (I actually changed the name of this role to "Global Project Manager" to be more clear), with full access to all projects.. The culprit is the "project_management" right, which gives you this access. This right is enabled both in the project manager and the administrator role.

OK I did create a separate admin account but it would seem that changing my own account to the project manager role doesn't change anything, I still see the Late/Today, New/Updated and Recent Activities for that project.

I am beginning to wonder if the fact that I was part of the project at the beginning is not the issue.
I checked the tables in the DB but failed to see a link between my profile and this project.

I thought it was in acx_project_users, the link between user_id and project_id. It would seem I am wrong or that it's a cache issue... (I'll clean the cache and report...).

I certainly understand the fact I have access to all project as an admin, I just meant that if you are not among the people participating in that project AND an admin, IMHO you shouldn't see tasks, discussions...etc of those projects you don't belong to... I just don't see the added value here.

As an administrator you have access to all the projects in the system. If you find that distracting create an account that does not have administration or project management permissions and you'll see only the stuff you are working on.

Brandon, thanks for the suggestions :)

I think it's correct an admin should see all projects... although if I were designing the top level dashboard, I'd change the recent activity to be more basecamp like (color coded blocks to represent activity types) and move the active projects list over to the right column to get them out of the main content column.

On the project-specific dashboard, I'd get rid of the 'show me' section - it's in the most prominent place on the page, but has the RSS feed link and an iCalendar link. Huh? I'd move milestones to the top left column and follow that with upcoming or high priority tasks assigned to the user. The RSS and iCal links can go over in the project ID block in the right column.
