When starting a discussion, most users want to be notified automatically when others respond to that discussion. I think each user should have a preference: "Auto-subscribe me to discussions I start." And the default for that option should be "Yes."

Hi,

Thank you for the suggestion, we'll see what we can do about this. While I agree that this option might be useful to great group of users we still need to experiment a bit to best fit it with existing forms.

To be clear, I'm referring to making this an option in the user's profile - so it wouldn't affect forms elsewhere in the UI.

Thinking about this a bit more... maybe it would be good if the admin could set the system-wide default for these numbers, and users could override them in their own profile preferences.
