Or the lack of it - I am not sure I understand the point of a calendar to which you cannot add events or the like? It seems to be me to be an unfinished module.

Calendar module is designed for presentation only. It shows information already in the system in monthly view and lets you zoom in specific day.

If you need full blown calendaring application there are many of them available both for desktop and on web. Data from activeCollab can be imported in them using iCalendar feed.

So there are no plans to extend its functionality? I think calling it a "Calendar" is a little misleading, when one cannot add events to it.

Does that mean that development of the Calendar's functionality has stopped? I agree with Jamie on the need for improvements in the calendar.

Having Task 1, Task 2, etc as items that show up is rather limited. Sorry to say this, but the calendar is weak. It needs improvement and needs more functionality and information represented on it.

It would be dissappointing to learn that things like this, Gantt charts, or other requests are not being heard for future development.
(37signal's complacency and take it or leave it attitude are why we switched from Basecamp).

^ I agree; this is a collaboration tool, and a team needs to know where each other will be, when appointments are, when they will be out meeting clients, when there is a meeting and so on. aC must be the *only* collaboration tool to have Calendar only as UI sugar.

aC is a new product, but it is lacking in a number of areas; I was *not* under the impression development in these areas would stop there.

I agree with all of the above. I was under the assumption that a working calendar was part of AC and this was one (minor) reason we made the switch from Basecamp. Basecamp was even more annoying because they have a fully functioning calendar available with Backpack and refuse to integrate it with their other offerings.

One of our wish-list items is the ability to insert events on the calendar for a project (meetings, anyone!?). I was very surprised to find this capability was NOT available, and hope Ilijah is planning on making some significant improvements to the calendar function soon. Gantt Charts are another MUST have, so we can more accurately allocate resources across our production schedules.

Three things that I find rather annoying as a project manager are:

- The fact that you have to enter a start date for all milestones. When I enter a start date and end date it fills my entire calendar (I use iCal) from start to finish. I would suggest that you don't make start date obligatory.

- You can't make a time record (deploy to staging at 9 AM etc).

- The calendar doesn't get updated for scheduled checklist items or tickets

Please let me know your thoughts. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

And another one. I guess there is a forum bug. Still no developer reply?
