Note, if you use 1and1, you can force the application to use PHP5 but simply creating an .htaccess file in the activecollab directory with the following line:

AddType x-mapp-php5 .php

Works great on 1and1 (and on dreamhost) - I use both!

In my personal experience, you couldn't really go wrong with one of these: DreamHost or TextDrive (in no particular order other than alphabetical).

I don't know if Media Temple offers PHP5, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do. Ask beforehand. And, slightly less pricey, Digital Space used to have a pretty good support service: ask them about PHP5 too.

Edited out the promo code: if you save some money from hosting, consider making a donation to Ilija!

Hi folks,

I'm interested in using activeCollab but alas, my current host only supports up to php 4.5.x; I'm checking around any other hosting solutions to see if they have 5, but so far the other 2 I've looked into are still around the 4 to 4.5.x versions of php.

I don't know if you can go backwards compatible with this - can you have support for older versions of PHP? or can someone recommend a good host that support 5 in the mean time?

(and yes, this isn't a feature request per se - not in the traditional sense, but work with me here) :)

thanks!
