No, it will not.

Write permissions are required only when you are working on translation files through administration. Read permissions are enough when translation is used by the rest of the system. You can change permissions to read only when you are done with the translation and don't need to make further changes through administration.

Hi, I changed it to 777 from 775 and it now works.

I don't really like having directories on 777. Will AC eventually CHMOD directories itself and then set them back to something more secure once done?

Without FTP access we can't examine your setup and try to find where the problem is. If you chmod-ed /localization and everything in it to 777, then your aC should work fine. But, it's not working good and we can't find the reason for such behavior this way. With an admin account in your aC setup and no access to code, we can do nothing more than confirm that there is a problem.

Can you provide a list of permissions required please.

Yes, this bug is fixed in v1.1.1. Make sure that /activecollab/localization folder is writable. Also, make sure that folder for any specific localization is also writable (for instance, if your localization is fr_FR.UTF-8 there should a folder with same name and PHP should be able to write in it).

I thought this was fixed in 1.1.1 - I have just upgraded, created a new dictionary and on trying to edit a section have yet again been told "Cannot create translation file".
Any suggestions? I have cleared the cache etc.
