Good Software just 1 problem

Hi there,
I recently purchased activecollab. It does everything i want it to apart from one thing. Basically, i would like it so that my clients can not see the details of the company working on their project and the company working on their project shouldn't be able to see the full details of my client. Why?

Example: I have a web development firm that outsources most of the work to web design companies/freelancers. First, i don't want my client to know that the work is being done by another company... but by using ActiveCollab they can see all the companies details (including address, website, etc). Only me (the admin) should be able to see that information. Secondly, as rare as this case may be, my freelancers/web design companies could go behind my back and contact the client directly in order to tell them that they could do the work directly with the them and save money as their will not be a middle man (me) anymore.

Could this small problem be fixed in a future release? Or is it already possible now? All it would involve is hiding the client contact details from the freelancer/web design company and hiding the contact details of the freelancer/web design company from the client. O

activeCollab is a collaboration software. It is designed to let people get contact information from other people involved in a project with ease.

We'll see what we can do about this in the future, but I really cannot promise you anything. At the moment, if you don't want people to see each other's contact information, don't bring them together on a project. Have separate projects for clients and contractors.

This doesn't resolve your exact situation... But here's how I handle it. (To clarify, I don't exclusively subcontract all of my work. In fact, I only subcontract when I have waves of a lot of work, and that's usually only about 10%-15% of my total workload).

I add subcontractors (even if they work for a firm) to my own "company" on a person by person basis. I also create an email address for them @mydomain.com and forward all those emails to their actual email address. From my clients' perspective, they're just an employee of mine.

On the other side, I work with professional contractors. This means that when I sign a contract with them, I always specify a no-compete clause which they must agree to. Essentially, it protects any trade secrets, proprietary code, etc. that I own. It also allows me to seek damages should they ever work for my client behind me. (Usually these clauses may expire after a certain amount of time, or if I release them from my contract. For example, I decide to let the client go, and then I have no problem with the other contractor continuing work).

Anyway, I think a client may be more likely to approach a subcontractor (looking for a lower rate), which is why I make a minor effort to mask that. But I would never expect a professional subcontractor (under contract with me) to approach my client.

Just my 2 cents. ;)

+1.
My temporary solution is for example we have a project called: Elephant Website.
And I will build another project called: [subcon] Elephant Website.

Would be very happy if those 2 project can be "bind" together though.
