I have a some questions before purchasing aC:

1- if we want to install it on 2 boxes for high availability, do we need more than 1 license? I mean, the license is per deployment / installation, or per physical server?

2- if we change the domain name or the URL of the aC public location (because of public IP change, eg), do we need to purchase a new license? or we can change it at any time?

3- regarding the copyright removal license: if we get the full source code, can we do it ourselves? if not, is it because of the license terms or because there are some parts of the source code that are obfuscated or closed in some way?

4- if we purchase aC, we'll need to develop some custom modules, and we maybe interested in selling them. What's the procedure for it? should we offer it through you? do you have some module shop? how is controlled licensing regarding modules?

thank you very much for your help.

Hi,

1. License is per URL (different sudbomains and subfolders count as different URL-s). If you are using more than one server to serve a SINGLE activeCollab installation on a single URL than one license is enough. If you are using it to host many instances on many URL-s you'll need as many license as you have running installations.

2. URL can be changed at any time from View Licenses page available in your activeCollab.com profile. You request URL change, we check if everything is OK and approve it. Note that in this case installation from old URL needs to be removed.

3. You cannot remove "activeCollab Powered" graphic from the footer without purchasing Branding Removal license. This is covered with License Agreement. Violation of license agreement is subject to license termination.

There are no code restrictions to this - you can do it on your own easily, but it is not allowed. Thanks to this we are able to offer lower prices. If you don't want your clients to know which application you are using and want to completely brand the system like your own you'll need Branding Removal license.

4. We encourage custom module development and don't mind if you charge for modules you develop, but we do not have any platform set for selling third party modules. Downloads section on this website is place where you can share and promote all modules, translations and other resources that you developed, but payments and support is something that you'll need to handle on your own website.

Thank you for the interest in activeCollab! Please let me know if you have any other questions.
