Update: 21 January 2010
Access has a new home on our site here: Access theme for activeCollab. It's still FREE but we're asking people to register so we can better keep you up to date on new releases etc. Thanks, Leon. (btw, we also have other activeCollab themes available now!)
Update: 3 August 2009
I'm happy to announce the release of Access 1.0 (final) today. Thank you to everyone who reported bugs, suggested ideas and supported us throughout the development process!
A lot of time has gone into creating this theme - if you like the theme a blog post about it or link back to us would be fantastic! :)
Thanks,

Hi all,
I've created a theme called Access to offer aC users something a little different. Using web 2.0 influences, Access is designed with a soft, easy to view interface while still highlighting important events and actions to the user.
Features:
- Wide layout - Access uses more of your screen space.
- Colours! Colours on recent comments, tickets, completed tasks etc. help view different activities.
- Streamlined dashboard - Improved to see more ‘at a glance’.
- Highlighted pined objects - Highlighted in red text to show its extra important.
- Plus LOTS more…
Oddly I cant seem to add in Tickets View (../activecollab/application/modules/tickets/views/tickets/index.tpl) 'Assignees and Category'.
When I added your theme I was unable to see the changes I made to the index.tpl file as described in this forum posting:http://www.activecollab.com/forums/topic/3088/
It is very useful when you can see who is assigned a particular ticket and what category the ticket belongs to.
Perhaps you can add this as a future update to match your template.
Thanks for the note forestcall - I already replied to you by email, but just to keep the community in the loop >
I've taken a look at the 'ticket page view hack' by ncrossland (which is a great hack) and implemented to my aC - it's working for me with the Access theme without any problems. Did you clear your cache and/or temp files? Is anyone else getting this problem?
I'll have some styles to support this hack available in Access 0.2, BUT I suggest that the hack be changed slightly. Currently it uses inline styles, so I suggest they be moved to the theme CSS file where designers can have better control over it (keeping the code and design separate).
- The 3 boxes at the top of the homepage (New/Updated etc...) sometimes need to drop down to 2 lines of text but when this happens the bottom of the box falls in behind the top of the main content area. You could either make their height permanently taller or just make the position of the next area relative rather than absolute.
- The "with selected" combo box at the bottom of the tickets page might need to be a little wider so that the drop down area isn't wider than the combo itself.
Thanks Mark - I've noted your points and they should be fixed in Access 0.2.
Btw- I must have overlooked your 'ticket page view hack' ... I had a look just now and it looks awesome.. I'll probably implement it over the next few days. I'm also happy to hear it works with the Access theme :)
Leon --- thanks for this theme, it's a huge improvement for me visually with the color tabs (similar to basecamp which I was familiar with) for each item i.e. comment, ticket, milestone, etc ... I added it almost right after you released it. ACpro is nice as well but I have felt a whole lot more comfortable using ActiveCollab with your new theme.
Thanks! I'm going to check out those hacks mentioned in the thread too for the ticket area they do look great, we use tickets a lot in our system --- I'll have to wait until I'm into my own install though
Hi Chris - re: login screen looks 'dodge' - Yes I'm aware of this.
It's a bit embarrassing, but at the time I thought the login screen was defined by the default theme (the default shipped with aC), but I realised if you set the Default Theme in ADMIN > GENERAL SETTINGS > to 'Access' it will pull the login page styles from the Access theme, which I didn't do! lol...
So I got onto this right away.. The login page is already styled and ready to ship.. I'm just working on a couple of other small issues I'd like to include with the next version - I'll release Access 0.2 by the end of the week if you can wait..
Access 0.2 theme for activeCollab is now available - download it here or from the download section on activecollab.com.
Change log:
Access 0.2 - 26 September 2008
------------------------------------------------
+ Add: Login page styles
+ Add: "Things that require your attention" styles
+ Add: Error / Success messages
+ Add: Styles for ticket page view hack by ncrossland*
! Change: Styles for pagination
# Bugfix: New/Late/Starred boxes - if text wraps to 2 lines it dosen't display well (thanks MarkOs for notification). Fix: changed so overflow is hidden.
Plus a few other very small changes to make the visual experience better.
*You need to update his code slightly - remove the inline styles as use classes called "assignee" and "category"
I also wanted to support the ticket page hacks by MarkOS but ran out of time.. Will try for the next version of Access.

We wrote a quick blog post about it, updated the main Access theme page and have added it to the downloads section here - so plenty of ways to get your copy ;)
