Project/Client Grouping

We are starting to use aC pretty actively now and realized something that I am not sure if is possible or not (version 1.1.4 corporate).

As the manager I am able to view the projects grouped by client. (click on projects, then click on client, and it lists tabs with the client name).

The regular team members however can not do this. When they click on "clients" at the top of their project list it doesnt show the projects grouped by client.

Is there something I am doing wrong as far as setting up permissions? It seems the staff has to have people management permissions, which I do not want them to have, to do this. If this currently isn't possible this is definitely something we need and I would like to put in a feature request.

Basically what we need is staff to be able to view their projects, grouped by client name.

Hi,

We are glad to hear that activeCollab works for you :) Regarding your question, only members of owner company can see projects organized by client. If person does not belong to the owner company this feature will be disabled.

Thanks for the reply. The people I am referring to are all members of the owner company. I would like for them to be able to view all of our projects listed by client and I cant seem to figure out how.

The problem is that they don't see all the projects, not that they don't see Group | Client switch on the top of the page?

Only project managers and administrators see all the projects. Other people see ONLY projects they are involved with. Similar thing is with people and companies. Administrators and people managers see everyone, while other people see only users they worked with on a project before.

If you wish everyone from your company to see all the projects make sure that people who are not administrators / project managers are added to all the projects from People tab of each project. You can also use auto-assign feature (available when you edit profile of each user) to tell system to automatically add specific person to all new projects when they are created.

Actually no, they do see the Group|Client switch, but when they click client no tabs are shown but the default (the projects that aren't assigned to a client). When I click the client link, it shows a list of all the clients down the side in tabs, but when they click it they only see the one tab for the projects that havent been assigned a client.

I have them assigned to projects obviously, because all of them show up when they are on the projects page. Hope this helps.

Hm, that does not sound right. We'll check it out and if problem exists see to have it fixed in one of the future bug-fix releases.
