We are building a Planning tool for active collab. It won't have Gantt chart support yet, but will make planning large projects easier.

I haven't seen any way of importing data to activeCollab - other than writing your own code for that.

I can understand your situation. We were in similar situation - to create plans with hundreds of tickets and tasks - and that's why we are developing this module.

There's plenty of talk about gantt charts and activecollab, does anyone know of ANY planning or collaboration software (that use gantt chats) that can import into activecollab.

I'm hoping to be able to start projects (using a software that supports gant charts) from a management view, then afterward import it or phases of it into activecollab were it can be worked on as a team. Or else if there is a plug in that can do the same or help with importing.

any feedback would be great, Im fairly new to project planning, how do you guys lay out and observe (a good size 1 year project) from a birds eye view of implementation of start stop, allocation, time restraints and such? (More like a project layout)

It appears and Ive read over and over that activecollab is great for DOING the work but limited in its ability to create, plan and allocate as a larger scale or simply a long period of time.

again, any feedback would be great. I have looked into these concepts quite a bite, i know that this concept is one of the most sought after feature requests. I plan on sticking with activecollab, but im hoping for some type of ideas on the managerial overview.
