I've been talking about a planning module we are working on. We are releasing it for Basecamp (yes, 37signal's Basecamp) in next couple of days. But I wanted to give you a peek at it since we will launch it for activeCollab (with many additional features) in about a fortnight.

We have done some UI cleanups on the site. We are getting good feedback from Basecamp community so far. Would like to hear from ActiveCollab users on what they would like to see in Planning module as well!

Hi Nirav,

looks brilliant, but I have a couple of questions. Are you planning to release this as a module for Active Collab, or will it be hosted on your side? Also, how would the milestone/ticket/task estimation be implemented (if at all)?

We plan to release this as a module for activeCollab. Another option is to add activeCollab support to current PlannerX. We are considering both, but we are more towards the module.

We will have estimation, due dates, ticket editor (add details to tickets), and a weekly scheduler / iteration planner all rolled into one. For estimations, we will be totaling up estimations - tasks will go to ticket, tickets will go to milestone.

Feedback we got so far:

Without a tool like this it is easy to lose track of milestones and to-do's. The Gantt chart is a much requested feature by our customers and I think it does the trick! Overall - looks really good. I'd like to get a live instance going as soon as possible.

Please keep us in the loop RE: v1.0 release. Looks terrific so far!

Hi i tried out the gantt view in basecamp, but can’t overlap milestones, and also there’s no real value associated with a task / groups of tasks or milestones in basecamp. It does seem to make planning more convenient, although I don’t do the entry.

Its really difficult to plan and overview in mtgs without an accurate gantt view. Im hoping in this activecollab version, i can get a more accurate view of the work load in the gantt view.
Since im newer to project planning & collaboration, If you can include a more accurate gantt view then the one in basecamp, then im hooked for life.
But i would much welcome your addon especially as a module in terms of privacy & information security.
