Have seen this in the set up for AC2.1 and we have enabled it on our system.

But we've not been able to work out how it works in practice. We imagine that it is similar to status message features on other systems - but really that's just a guess....

What documentation / illustrations of how this thing works are available?

Status updates are a simple module that adds Status icon in the toolbar (check the screenshot). If there are messages you didn't read, system will show number on unread messages over the icon.

When you click on it, popup will be displayed where you'll see short messages posted by other people who are working in the system. You can chat, share news and links, tell jokes or do some serious stuff using this module, it's completely up to you.

Please note that you'll need to give permissions to roles you want to be able to see this button in Administration > Roles section. Permission you need to give the is can_use_status_updates.

OK - sounds good. Except that we don't see the extra element in the toolbar, even though the module is installed, and all roles have permission to use it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still no joy.

Anything special that we should / could do to get this thing to work?

Using 2.1 corporate. Status module reports itself to be version 2.0.

If you don't see a Status icon in the toolbar (with or without the badge that shows number of new messages), than the problem are most probably permissions - this module is so simple that there is nothing else that can go wrong :)

Please make sure that you have installed the module and set can_use_status_updates to Yes in Admin > Roles for roles you want to be able to use this tool.

I am sorry, it seems I was not so clear in my last posting.

Prior to your reply I had already installed the module (did you see the bit about uninstalling and reinstalling in my previous post...?). I also had checked the permissions of the roles defined for our system (did you see the bit about "all roles have permission to use it" in my previous post...?).

In case I had done something wrong. So I did these things again. We still have no status module reports showing in our system.

Any further thoughts? If the module is so simple, presumably there is a very limited number of things we need to check.

Please contact us by sending email to support@a51dev.com. We'll need an account in your system to so what the problem is.
