Ilija,

Today for the first time I needed to delete a "category" from my Tickets area in one project -- the functionality here is pretty much what I'm referring to in the Groups area. At the very least it would be great to offer this same functionality in Groups as is available in Categories.

You can select X even if the category has items in it -- a popup warns you that there are items in this category if you choose to continue these will be moved to "uncategorized" and the category will be deleted.

Of course my notes above suggest an improvement on this, to allow you to choose where the displaced items go --- but that's not crucial just an added bonus if you're merging several sub-categories into one new or existing category.

By making sure that there's no project in the group, I did not necessarily mean that you need to drop them. As Nathan already suggested, you can empty the group by moving project to another group or setting their group to None.

You can always keep the project without it being part of a group -- just edit the project and set the group to "None" or choose an appropriate group if you still would like to have it in a group. You'll always be able to access it from the "archive" link but if there's no "group" assigned you would find it in the "archive" link on the main projects page. Or search for it in For Projects.

Only empty project groups can be deleted. Before this option appears in Manage Categories dialog, you'll need to make sure that there are no projects in the group (this includes old projects that you marked as paused, completed or canceled).

Hi Arkitekt,

I couldn't even find a place to delete a group. Is that option there?

If so, would you mind pointing me to where it is?

Thanks!

I have been finding the manage groups feature to be a bit cumbersome for managing a major change when you want to move multiple projects to different groups.

It would be great if there was a feature that would allow you to delete a group, and move all projects inside to another group --- this way you wouldn't have to go into each project and re-assign it if you wanted to change your group structure. We recently went from grouping projects under multiple categories to one main category --- I had to go into each group in each subdivided category and select it and move it. It would be much easier to delete the group and have the option to move associated groups to another group or just leave them ungrouped. So I guess either a merge feature or copy/move feature.

Thanks!
