Please refer to our module that will bring any customer to predefined project page, whether it's tickets, overview, discussion, etc, after logging in.

The module(AutoJoin) could be found at downloads page or in our modules bundle.

I'm with specialops on this - it's sad that after almost a year this miniscule feature request that has a HUGE impact on user experience has yet to be implemented. I'll try out the posted hack one of these days and report back.

Over 95% of my customers have only one project in AC. They are all met with confusion upon logging in and many of them resort to just emailing me about the projects I work on. I really hope AC gets a user experience review soon. I also hope it doesn't take another year to have this issue addressed properly.

I found an improvement to my workaround -- rather than adjust the AuthController, if you change the SystemModule.class.php it is more effective. I went back and edited my comment
This feature is not part of activeCollab 2.3.2, so you haven't overlooked anything.

Great news guys.... this functionality already exists in a 3rd party module called Auto Join --- I think the name may be a bit confusing because it's intended for users to be able to setup the configuration from their own profile not to be configured by the admin but if you use it in combination with ShadowViewer or login as the user you can setup your users login to redirect to any project either indefinitely or for a set period of time.

Check out the module here http://www.uswebstyle.com/ac_modules.html

Hope you find this helpful, I have suggested to the developers that a future improvement would be to make this editable by the admin user for each person --- maybe they will consider adding that functionality if requested by others as well. But if you buy their full bundle at $175 --- you'll have Shadowviewer which allows you to easily login as the user from the People tab anyway so this works great.

I came back to this thread to see if anything new had been posted in the year since the topic came up. It's sad to see that this minor feature has been held over to version 3. I spent a few hours today looking through the code and I think this might be a decent workaround (at least for me).

/activecollab/application/modules/system/SystemModule.class.php

change line 45 from:
$router->map('homepage', '');

change line 45 to:
$router->map('homepage', '', array('controller' => 'dashboard', 'action' => 'active_projects'));;

WARNINGS: Your mileage may vary. No warranties on this workaround and this is at your own risk. This may break future versions. No support is provided on this workaround. If this works for you, comment on this thread and let me know that I'm not crazy.

Ilija - the topic covered in this thread is a major usability issue, as many people here have agreed. I've basically stopped having my clients even log into aC because this issue involves WAY too much explanation to get clients to their project.

Hopefully the aC development will become more nimble as time progresses and the release schedule won't be driven by which month has the largest number of expiring support contracts (oh ... did I just say that?). If I were you guys, I'd push this one feature out in an update since it makes the product essentially useless and confusing to many of your customers customers.

Don't set your goals too high for each release, or it will become like Duke Nukem Forever. Focus on a certain number of bugs and new features that allow you to have a new minor release every 2 to 4 months. Just my $0.02.
