Awesome Daniel!

That is exactly what we would like to do. I like it with the YAM in front so it automatically sorts by client when listed alphabetically.

We use a number like:

201001123: Year, month, number of the project started that month
We extend it with a 3 digit organization tag , like YAM for Yamaha.

Nice thing is that when we enter a new project in our current system, automatically a location is generated where people involved can store their files. Perfect fit between local files and project management.
As soon as project is closed, the files can be backuped keeping the file server clean and with project number easy retrieval is possible (current system keeps the archieved project data available).
If you have a solution like this we'll consider AC immediately!

what we do here is:

- three letters of company
- then number of total projects within our company
- then number of projects for specific company

so e.g. APP.123.002

Meaning Apple project 123 of total projects, project 002 for Apple.

I have requested this feature before in a questionary once, so would love to see a feature like this.
