I need basic reports that are easily accessible when I have to review a project, do billing, or pay contractors.
PROJECT REPORTS
Time summery by job(milestone, task, etc . .) - billable, billed, unbillable
Time summery by job by day
Time summery by job, day, person
Time detail by job, day, person
PERSONNEL REPORTS
Time summery by person - billable, billed, unbillable
Time summery by person by day
Time summery by person, day, job
Time detail by person, day, job
SUB-SUMMARIES - A big part could be taken care of by extending the current reporting interface to allow sub-summaries so a reports could be run that show all job or personnel summaries on one sheet.
REPORT GROUPS - Advanced report generation that would print a series of reports. This way AC could be customized to run a series of Monday morning reports for our traffic meeting and an end of month report series for billing.
PRINTING - Programs like Filemaker allow formatting of printed reports. If there was a PDF module editable templates (Magento uses the Zend frameworks PDF generation functions for invoices and packing slips). Template customization is advanced so I think it's OK if they have to be customized in code.
LONG TERM TRENDS - It would also be nice if there were reports that help us look back and visualize trends in profitable jobs. At this point I don't know what those reports would look like but the information all in AC and having better control of basic reporting would get us closer.
But overall better reports are key to performance and profitability. I'm convinced better reporting will increase our billing so I would willing pay for a better reporting system.
Thank you for the detailed list of reports that you would like to see built into activeCollab. We'll work on extending reporting to better fit the needs of businesses who use activeCollab, so your feedback is really helpful.
If anyone else has some useful reports that he would like to see added, please post description, how do you see them working and how it would benefit your business and businesses of other activeCollab customers.
PROJECT REPORTS
Time summery for a job by ticket (Handy for invoicing with ticket as line item.)
Time summery for a client (spanning multiple projects)
I agree on comments about reporting. It is difficult to provide handy reports for overall project management and accouting/invocing. We mniss reporting capabilities on a summary of "time per project, time per project per user", etc.
In addition, it is interesting to add reporting to different security levels such as personal reporting (to know what you have booked easily) or overall reporting for project managers.
